Established in 1942 as a modest 10-bed nursing home named Silverene by Dr. Austin Da Silva, Holy Family Hospital has grown into a 268-bed multi-specialty institution and a beacon of compassionate healthcare in Mumbai. Originally managed by the Medical Mission Sisters, the hospital came under the administration of the Ursuline Sisters of Mary Immaculate (UMI) in 1978. Since then, it has continuously expanded its infrastructure, services and community engagement to meet the evolving needs of those it serves. Today, Holy Family Hospital offers a wide range of specialties including Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology and more. Holy Family Institute of Nursing Education (HFINE) was established in 2005. Run by the Congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of Mary Immaculate HFINE trains student-nurses with world-class infrastructure at a residential facility at Kurla (W) Premier Road. We offer a Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery, Basic B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing & Critical Care Nursing that is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and ranks among the best in the country.
The Navjeet Community Health Centre, a unit of the Bandra Holy Family Hospital initiated its services through Medical Camps and Health Awareness in the year 1978. Navjeet empowers disadvantaged urban and rural communities by giving them access to information, education, training, community organization. Navjeet's projects in Health, Education, Self Help Groups, Micro Finance have changed lives in the past 3 decades.
Revive Heart Foundation (iCARE) was founded in 2017 by eminent cardiologists Dr. Brian Pinto and Dr. Yash Lokhandwala, supported by doctors, BLS Certified professionals and volunteers. It is a non-profit entity run under the aegis of The Bandra Holy Family Hospital, Bandra West, Mumbai. The primary aim of RHF is to increase the rate of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) survival in India by creating awareness amongst general public and imparting knowledge about how to handle sudden cardiac arrest emergencies, how to revive/save/keep the SCA victim alive till the arrival of emergency medical services.
The Research Society was set up in 1983 and is recognised by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation since 1984. It was established by its Executive Director Dr (Sr) G Alberoni, who is also a founding member of The Bandra Holy Family Society, the charitable trust that runs the hospital and its various independent institutions. Through its activities, the Research Centre contributes to the scientific knowledge base; encourages medical students to pursue academic excellence, offers doctors and residents an opportunity to bring their work to the attention of the scientific fraternity; and enhances the quality of teaching available to post-graduate students at the hospital. The Centre also actively encourages junior faculty to undertake research to expand their horizons and upgrade their clinical skills.
